The Truth about Pedro’s DepartureAdam Johnson 9/26/05
An undisclosed source released this photo on Monday. It was received by mail in an unmarked envelope with a brief letter describing what really unfolded in Boston. Apparently slugger Manny Ramirez filed a complaint to Red Sox General Manager, Theo Epstein after a publicity event held for the team. As the picture shows there may have been some unwanted advances made by the Boston pitcher.
Ramirez advised Epstein that he did not want to make it public; he asked that one of the two players be released or traded. Ramirez stated that he did not want to damage anyone’s reputation; he only wanted to feel comfortable when showering in the team locker room.
Epstein honored Manny’s request by not picking up the free agent Martinez in the off season. Apparently when the Yankees denied Pedro’s request to be his daddy, he looked in Manny’s direction to fill that role.
